Analysis by University of Tartu Centre for Ethics highlights major risks of AI in education
A working group at the University of Tartu Centre for Ethics, has completed an independent analysis, commissioned by the AI Leap Foundation, of the risks associated with the AI Leap educational programme and its AI-based learning application. The analysis describes the risks involved in using AI in education and assesses how AI Leap, the state, schools, research institutions and technology providers can mitigate them.

“If There Are a Million Doers, Changers...” A Changing Estonia and Twenty-Five Years of the Centre for Ethics
When I returned to Estonia from Germany in the autumn of 2000, ethics was not yet fashionable here. People were replacing old windows with modern insulated ones, importing cars, and doing business. Most assets had already been privatised - or misappropriated - and crime was rife. Yet there was also a great deal of hope. People believed that life would improve and that tomorrow would be better than today. With support from foreign foundations, civil society was being built and education, research and healthcare were being reformed. Many Estonians returned from elsewhere in the world with new knowledge, experience and ideas about how to make life in Estonia better.

10th World Conference on Research Integrity to take place in Tallinn in 2028
One of the world’s leading international conferences dedicated to research integrity and trust in science – the World Conference on Research Integrity (WCRI) – will take place in Tallinn, Estonia, in 2028. The successful bid was led by the University of Tartu Centre for Ethics, in cooperation with the professional conference organiser Publicon OÜ.

Enlight staff training week highlighted the journey of values development from university to society
At the end of April, the Centre for Ethics of the University of Tartu organised an international staff training week for employees of universities within the Enlight network. The programme focused on the development of values in education, research, and society.
