Book presentation: Estonia AND Nordic Countries - Estonia AS a Nordic Country?
University of Tartu, Centre for Ethics is invites you to the presentation of the book Estonia AND Nordic Countries- Estonia AS a Nordic Country? The book presentation will take place on 19th of June at 17.00, in the Winter Garden of the Estonian National Opera (Estonia puiestee 4, Tallinn).
The presentation will be held in the spirit of Danish hygge with fresh cinnamon buns and live music. Mood will be set by the jazz-pianist prof Iñaki Sandoval from the University of Tartu Viljandi Culture Academy.
- We will think together, what could be the Estonian equivalent to Nordic lifestyle related words hygge, kalsarikännit and fika.
- The winners of the essay competition, writer Emma Juslin and a sociologist Mikko Lagerspetz discuss the identity of Estonia and the Nordic Countries.
- The panel discussion “Estonia and Nordic countries – what makes us similar, what makes us different?” participants are the head of the Estonian Office of the Nordic Council of Ministers Christer Haglund, the Norwegian ambassador Dagfinn Sørli, the Danish ambassador Søren Kelstrup, the First Secretary of the Embassy of Sweden Fredrik Olson and the spokeswoman of the Embassy of Finland Hannele Valkeeniemi. The discussion is moderated by prof Margit Sutrop, the head of the Centre of Ethics, University of Tartu.
- The participants of the essay and photo competition “Estonia AND Nordic Countries- Estonia AS a Nordic Country?” receive a copy of the book.
The book “Estonia AND Nordic Countries- Estonia AS a Nordic Country?” includes presentations given by Estonian and Nordic top-scientist at the international conference with the same title and the essays and photos sent to the competition on the same topic. It is an interesting insight on the development of the identity of Estonia and Nordic countries.
